Todd Monaghan, 2021, 33.5"/29"/.2", gesso, pastel and egg shells on canvas.
Snow Owl, the second in Monaghan's recent bird's of pray additions to his black and white series, continues his exploration of minimalistic black and white works. The piece is in the tradition of his painting Shark 101, with it's strong central character in the midst of a textured black and white field. This continuation of Monaghan's black and white series, explores movement, texture and light with the use of egg shell. Made as action art, these pieces focus on space, broad bold marks and light.
