Todd Monaghan, 2021, 29.5"/.2"l, gesso, pastel and egg shells on canvas.
Pale Male, named after the famous Red Tail Hawks of Central Park, is Monaghan's return to his black and white series after a long hiatus. The piece is in the tradition of his painting Shark 101, with it's strong central character in the midst of a textured black and white field. This continuation of Monaghan's black and white series, explores movement, texture and light with the use of egg shell. Made as action art, these pieces focus on space, broad bold marks and light.
