Original 102 was created in 2016 and is one of two that Monaghan did of the iconic Coca Cola logo with egg shell at this 12" by 12" size and format. Made from gesso, egg shells and acrylic, it takes the iconic American trademark and deconstructs it. Like the other works in this series, the piece speaks to the simplicity of the Coca Cola trademark. Monaghan graduated from Emory University also known as Coca Coca University due to the fact that it is so intertwined with Coke with its large endowment.
