Todd Monaghan, 2018, 46" round, acrylic and polyurathane on foam mounted on bendy plywood.
This painting was created in the same size and shape as the first round night sky (aka space series painting) Circular Universe. This piece and the rest of the paintings in this series was painted on foam giving them a different kind of texture and feel. They are enameled at the end. This series aka the "space" series of paintings was initiated after Monaghan spent summer nights looking up at the night sky over the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York. This series of paintings evokes the expansive feeling of space and timelessness.
