Todd Monaghan, 2013, 60"/84"/1.5", gesso, acrylic and egg shells on canvas.
Coke 101 was created in 2013 and is one of the most recent pieces in the Coca Cola series. Made from gesso, egg shells and acrylic, it takes the iconic American trademark and deconstructs it. Floating above a large expansive landscape the piece speaks to the simplicity of the Coca Cola trademark. Even in its most minimal deconstructed state it speaks volumes. The piece gets its texture from Monaghan's continued use of egg shells in his practice.
