Todd Monaghan, 2012, 30"/90.5"/1.5", gesso, oil, pastel, oil sticks, sand and egg shells on canvas.
3 Orbs, created by Monaghan in 2012, is a nod to painter Anselm Kiefer whom his work has been compared too. The piece is a path leading into infinity. It was inspired by the long expanses in the Everglade National Park in Florida, USA. The piece's 3 orbs float over an endless road and are eyes of the characters in the piece. It is signed with Monaghan's tm on the bottom righthand side. The piece gets its texture with the use of egg shells and sand.
