Black and Whites

Monaghan's black and white series was initiated in 2012 when a patron commissioned him to make a painting that was inspired by American Abstract Expressionist Franz Kline and Qin Feng, China's leading ink painter. The work in this series is minimal in its execution using gesso and egg shell to give it multiple layers and texture.
