Updated Barred Owls 101 is a piece that goes into further exploration of Monaghan taking his abstract black and white works and placing a recognizable figure at their center. These Owls are in a foggy, misty light much like the light in the mountains in the morning in upstate New York.
This series started with Monaghan's Shark 101 painting and has now expanded into this series of Birds of Prey. The texture was created with egg shells which have been a central part of his work.
